Shirley Dalton

LAKE WYLIE -- Shirley Frances Dalton, 80, of Lake Wylie, died March 30, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 1, 2008, at River Hills Community Church, with the Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Burial will be in River Hills Community Church Cemetery.

Dalton was born March 5, 1928, in Florence to Frances McBride Sansbury and the late G.F. Sansbury. She graduated from Toccoa Falls Schools, including courses at Toccoa Falls Commercial College. She was a longtime employee of Storer Broadcasting Co., headquartered in Miami, as an executive secretary and retired in 1975 from National Airlines, Miami, as executive secretary to the vice president and general counsel. She also was a member of the River Hills Country Club, River Hills Community Church, and longtime member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wallace Dalton.

Survivors are her mother, Frances Bostick of Spartanburg; children, Gary Doles of Orlando, Fla., Jeffrey and Suzanne Doles of Seffner, Fla., Gregory and Doreen Doles of Gainesville, Fla., and Jonathon and Heather Doles of Gainesville; stepchildren, Troy and Chip Dalton of Austin, Texas, Kemp and Susan Dalton of Greensboro, N.C., Randy and Debbie Dalton, and Elaine Barton , all of Cornelius, N.C., and Lori and Mike Patrick of Rock Hill; 24 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamilton's Ferry Road, Lake Wylie, SC 29710 or a charity of your choice.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Clover, is serving the family.
