Milton Yezek
ROCK HILL -- Milton Yezek, 88, of Park Pointe Village, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at home.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today, April 29, 2008, at River Hills Community Church, with the Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Yezek was born July 25, 1919, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., to the late Frank and Anna Hribal Yezek. He graduated from East Huntingdon High School in 1937 and from Penn State University in 1942 with a B.S. degree in agricultural and biological chemistry. He worked for General Foods Corporation for 35 years, most of which as a technical research manager for various divisions and Corporate Research. During those years, the family lived in Battle Creek, Mich., and Stanford, Conn.
After retirement he and his wife lived for 21 years in River Hills, where he loved to play golf and was an active member of the River Hills Lions Club. As a Lion he helped found the Good Neighbor Pantry and was active in that organization for 18 years. He served four years as a board member of the River Hills Community Association, was in charge of the gardens in River Hills for nearly 20 years and was an active member of the Plantation Planters. In 1991, the Lions Club awarded him the Melvin Jones Award for his volunteer efforts. In September 2000, he and his wife moved to Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill, and he started the gardens of Park Pointe.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Yezek and four brothers.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Mary-Ellen Yezek of Plainville, Conn.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mark Bacigalupi of Lake Oswego, Ore.; two granddaughters, Harvest and Dawn; and a sister, Eleanor Szczygiel of Mount Pleasant, Pa.
