This month, the Rotunda at Rock Hill City Hall is filled with angels.
Jackie Clarkin's colorful angel paintings are on display until July 31 in the Rotunda gallery at 155 Johnston St.
Clarkin of Clover is a self-taught artist and poet. As a child, she was drawn to anything that had to do with creating. She began painting in the mid-1990s after the death of her grandmother, Mary G. Kuhn. The strong spiritual experience Clarkin had after her grandmother's death led her to create her first angel painting, "Angels in Flight." She has created more than 20 angel paintings of various sizes.
Clarkin uses a mosaic/stained glass effect to create her distinctive angel paintings.
She describes her work as "happy art," filled with bright, vivid colors and a flow of energy throughout the canvas.
