Charlotte Restaurant Week begins Friday
CHARLOTTE -- The immensely popular dining event Charlotte Restaurant Week (CharlotteRestaurantWeek.com) will expand to 10 days for its third outing.
"Queen's Feast: Summer 2009" will run July 10-19, encompassing two full weekends. The semi-annual event boasts a new high of 71 participating restaurants for this summer's run.
Charlotte Restaurant Week is a metro-area promotion during a typically slow time in which numerous upscale restaurants offer a prix fixe, three-course dinner for $30 per person (not including tax and gratuity), a savings over what such a meal would typically cost.
In addition to many areas of Charlotte, participating restaurants this summer can be found in the Lake Norman/North Mecklenburg area, and Fort Mill and Belmont.
The Charlotte Restaurant Week in January generated about 50,000 dinners and $2.1 million in revenue for 56 participating restaurants.
"We felt that expanding Queen's Feast over two weekends would give more diners a chance to participate during the busy summer travel season," said Bruce Hensley, president of the PR firm that owns Charlotte Restaurant Week. "We look forward to presenting metro Charlotte with another 'gastronomic stimulus package' to enjoy this summer."
In addition to many of the popular choices from previous events, such as Sonoma Modern American, M5, LaVecchia's, Copper, Blue, Cajun Queen, Ruth's Chris, Carpe Diem, and Noble's, this summer's Queen's Feast will see new participants such as Luce; Sole Spanish Grille; Basil Thai; Firenze; Morton's; Passion8 Bistro in Fort Mill; T1 Tapas and Maddi's Southern Bistro at Birkdale; Old Stone Steakhouse in Belmont; and many others.
Three hotels -- Westin and Doubletree Gateway Village in Center City and the Doubletree Suites at SouthPark -- also are offering special rates.
