Contractor sues county leader

FORT MILL TOWNSHIP -- A Fort Mill construction worker has filed a civil case against York County Councilman Paul Lindemann claiming he was stiffed for work he did on a Tega Cay home Lindemann owns.

John Long contends Lindemann owes him thousands of dollars for work done last summer to a Windjammer Drive home, according to court documents filed Thursday. Now, Long has a message for Lindemann: Pay up or settle in court.

"He promised to pay," Long said. "He owes me for it."

Lindemann disputes the debt.

"I've already paid him," Lindemann said of Long. "This (the $2,700) is for a bonus."

Lindemann said he paid Long between $6,000 and $10,000.

Long disagrees.

"That's wrong," Long said. "Maybe $6,000."

Lindemann has 30 days from receipt of the court document filed July 1 to answer the allegation against him, the document notes. He also can choose to make an out of court settlement with Long.

"He and I are talking about getting things squared away," Linemann said. "It's no big deal."

An itemized contractor invoice for work done at 29022 Windjammer Drive says Lindemann owes Long $2,700. For more information, visit fortmilltimes.com.
