Longer days at Carowinds for Snoopy
New light and sound show extends park hours to 10 p.m.

Carowinds is extending Snoopy’s bedtime next season.
Snoopy and his Peanuts pals will be staying up until 10 p.m. beginning June 27, as the star of Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular, a light-and-sound experience.
Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular is already in place at Carowinds’ sister parks – Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif. and Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo.
It features Lucy and her dreams, Schroeder and his music, Woodstock and Snoopy and their wanderings and, of course, your favorite blockhead, Charlie Brown. The soundtrack has some of the familiar Peanuts music.
Carowinds’ version of the display will be slightly different from the other parks, said spokeswoman Bryn Hough. Kings Island and Knott’s Berry Farm rolled out their Snoopy shows this year.
The Carowinds light show will stretch between Country Fair and the entrance to Planet Snoopy. It will have more than 1.5 million LED lights, animated displays and special effects.
It is the first expansion of Planet Snoopy. Carowinds converted its Nickelodeon-themed area to Planet Snoopy this year. The 12-acre section of the park has 15 different Peanuts-themed rides and attractions.
Carowinds challenged park visitors to guess its latest expansion by postings clues on its Facebook page. Twelve photos were posted online, and it didn’t take park enthusiasts very long to guess Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular was coming, Hough said.
Snoopy’s later bedtime is only for the summer. On Aug. 7, the park will return to it usual hours – an 8 p.m. closing, except for Friday and Saturday, when the park stays open until 10 p.m.
