Fantasy author to sign new book Jan. 7 in Rock Hill

ROCK HILL --

Faith Hunter, a bestselling fantasy author and York County resident with a major following in Fort Mill, will be appearing for a book signing from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at The BooKnack, 742 N. Anderson Road, Rock Hill.

Hunter has been writing fiction books for more than 20 years. After years of holding book signings, she wanted to spice it up by bringing one of her fictional heroines to life.

“I’ve done many signings over the years for various titles and genres. I wanted to come up with an interesting way for my fans to finally get a real taste of my new main character, Jane Yellowrock,” she said.

“She’s a tough chick and that’s a nice change of pace for readers from a lot of the typical, female, Pollyanna-type characters that you see in books today. Women deserve a strong face in fiction. Someone they can get behind and cheer on."

Last year, a BooKnack employee and fan of the series dressed up as Jane for one of Hunter’s book signings.

“It turned out to be one of the most fun book signings that I’ve ever done,” Hunter said.

“When I posted the photos to Facebook, the fan response was overwhelming.”

Her last book, “Mercy Blade” hit the New York Times bestseller list for fantasy mass market fiction in 2011.

“Raven Cursed,” the fourth book in the Jane Yellowrock series, hit bookstores today, Jan. 3.

The book signing is free and open to the public. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and Kindle or Nook e-reader can bring them in, as well, to be signed.

“An event like this is just so much more interactive that it makes it worth the drive,” said Mike Pruette, The BooKnack manager.

“It gives people a chance to see a character that usually they can only read about. They bring their cameras and get their pictures made with them, so they can show their Facebook friends.”
