CLOVER --
Pull out your neon leggings and Aqua Net hairspray, and get ready to go back in time for a good cause.
Adults ages 21 and older are invited to the second-chance Awesome ’80s Prom from 7 to midnight Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Larne Building, 103 N. Main St., Clover, to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The event is hosted by Moped to Memphis Charity, founded by Clover High School economics teacher Frank Falls, who decided to start a community service project for his seniors in 2008. The seniors decided to help St. Jude’s children. From 2008-2009, students raised $3,500.
In 2009-2010, Falls’ coworkers dared him to ride a moped to Memphis, Tenn., to donate collected money, and Moped to Memphis was born. In 2010, he raised $13,000. Through expanded efforts last year, including the Miss Moped Womanless Pageant, they raised $30,000. The goal is to reach $1 million by 2020.
Prom tickets cost $25 per person. Call 803-713-5729 or email cody.jessica1@yahoo.com.
