Financial seminar Sept. 8 in York

Robert Winkler, an Edward Jones financial adviser in York, is hosting a free educational seminar, “Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared?” at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at The Jasmine Cafe. Breakfast will be served.

Guest speakers include Daniel Harshaw of Bradford Law; Chris Farris, CPA; and a Bratton Funeral Home director.

The seminar will feature four major topics: investment perspective, how to prepare a will, understanding taxes and common funeral arrangement questions.

Free financial workshops offered

The York County Library and Family Trust Federal Credit Union are offering eight free workshops on finances and money management beginning Sept. 11 at the library on Black Street in Rock Hill.

The series, “Know Your Dough: Inspiring Financial Freedom,” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. Basic budgeting will be the first topic presented Sept. 11. The speaker will be Jennifer Panther, a certified financial counselor with Family Trust. Handouts will be provided.

Other workshops will be: Improve Your Credit Score, Oct. 9; Home-Buying Made Easy, Nov. 13; Auto-Buying Basics; Dec. 11; Understanding Home and Auto Insurance, Jan. 8; Investing with Confidence, Feb. 12; Identity Theft: Who’s got Your Number?, March 12; Legal Planning for Seniors, April 9.

Books on the topics will be available for checkout. Participants are asked to register in advance at familytrust.org/knowyourdough or call 803-326-2187.

Bi-Lo begins vaccination campaign

Bi-Lo has started its “Shield Yourself” flu vaccination campaign, offering three options of this year’s influenza vaccine to help shield shoppers from the flu.

Customers at any of the grocer’s in-store pharmacies can choose from the standard vaccination, a high-dose vaccine recommended for those 65 and older, or an Intradermal flu vaccination administered with a micro needle that is 90percent smaller than traditional needles.

Consumers can secure a flu shot in any BI-LO in-store pharmacy on a walk-in basis.

Friends in Business of Lake Wylie is a local specialty-business networking group that welcomes visitors.

The group meets at 7:30 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month at Cafe 49, and 11:30 a.m. the third Wednesday of the month at All Saints Catholic Church.
