Frank Vignola concert, Sept. 13, Clover School District Auditorium, part of Performing Arts Series. Vignola’s performance careers across the musical spectrum from jazz standards to opera, classic rock to contemporary pop, Latin to R&B, classical to swing, with even a smidgen of boy-band choreography tossed in. Photographing Fall Flowers, 9:30 a.m.-noon Sept. 15, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Instructor Phyllis Peterson provides a guided tour through the garden to learn about locations for best blooms and tips for photographing effectively. Topics include: background choices, color theory and composition. Designed for digital point and shoot cameras and digital SLR owners. Bring a camera and a tripod, if you have one. Pianist concert
Dan Franklin Smith concert, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15, Community Performance Center, 249 E. Main St., Rock Hill. The internationally known pianist and recording artist, graduated as a piano major from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and made his European recital debut in 1997 outside of Stockholm, Sweden, where he received a standing ovation and rave reviews. The following year he made his European orchestral debut in Stockholm at Sofia Kyrkan. A debut recording with the Gävle Symfoniorkester soon followed, and not long after, Smith released a recording with the Stuttgart Philharmonic. Potters market
Potters Market Invitational, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 15, Mint Museum Randolph. Forty North Carolina potters have been invited to participate in this year’s event, presented by the Delhom Service League. Admission: $10, includes access to the event and both Mint Museum locations. (Price drops to $8 after 2 p.m.) The event includes live folk music and pottery-making demonstrations. Silk painting
Silk Painting, 5-8 p.m. Sept. 20, Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill. Instructor Marcee Musgrove of White Lotus Studios in Fort Mill will teach basic techniques of painting silk. Students will create three works of art – a 10-inch sun catcher to take home that night, and a 12-by-12 inch square of silk and an 8-by-54 inch Habotai silk scarf that will be professionally set and available for pick up after processing. Make art

Watercolor class
