Lake Wylie Rotary hosts blood drive Sept. 14

Lake Wylie Rotary Club and American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Watson Insurance, 4569 Charlotte Hwy.

Rotary meets at noon Tuesdays at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane.

Speaker Sept. 18 is Steve Black, District 7750 chairman for Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust Fund. District Gov. Kim Grambling will visit Sept. 25.

Guests are welcome. Lunch, catered by Christopher’s, costs $9.

Clover Woman’s group meeting Thursday

The new year begins for the Clover Woman’s Club with a membership tea at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Judy Lark’s home, 690 Old Carriage Road.

New guests will be presented and introduced to the club members, as well as the officers. Rita Dulin serves as the new president. Vice-president Barbara Parrish will introduce the programs for the year. Invite friends.

Clover celebrates its 125th birthday this year. Discussion will include how the Clover Woman’s Club can help celebrate. Volunteers will be needed for “The Ghost of Clover Past,” a guided historic tour on the “Little Blue Choo” from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 21. Sweet Repeat Recipients Luncheon Friday

Sweet Repeat Charitable Foundation will hold its annual Recipients Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at River Hills Country Club.

Sweet Repeat will award 30 community organizations or individuals, including Camp Thunderbird, Oakridge Middle School, Lake Wylie Library, Clover Area Assistance and River Hills/Lake Wylie EMT, about $70,000 going back to the community.

The complete list will be posted at the store, which is open Thursdays and Saturdays at Lake Wylie Plaza, behind Fred’s.

Girls on the Run begins Monday

Girls on the Run of the Tri County, presented by Piedmont Medical Center, is gearing up for its fall season. Registration opened Monday. The season opens Monday, Sept. 17, and finishes with the Reindeer Romp on Dec. 1.

Girls on the Run is an after-school program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self respect and healthy living. During the 20 after-school sessions. girls are empowered with self awareness, a sense of achievement and a foundation in team building.

Women’s club luncheon Sept. 19

The River Hills Women’s Club will meet Sept. 19 at River Hills Country Club.

The group will welcome new RHCC General Manager Jim Sutton and interest groups will be introduced, followed by sign-ups.
