Lake Wylie woman named to S.C. housing commission

COLUMBIA Gov. Nikki Haley announces Mary Sieck of Lake Wylie has been appointed to the nine-member Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority.

Sieck is a partner with Management Advisors Executive Search, specializing in financial services executive search. She also is a Realtor and broker with Century 21 Palmetto Homes.

She serves as vice chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Lake Wylie Rotary Foundation and is president elect for the Lake Wylie Rotary Club. She has served as membership chair and community service chair or Rotary. Her duties involve coordinating the membership and community service committees, and engaging in fundraising for the foundation.

“I am proud that Governor Haley has chosen me to serve our state as a member of SC State Housing’s board,” Sieck said. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members in addressing the affordable housing needs of our citizens. As a real estate professional I know first hand the importance of the housing industry to our state’s economy. I look forward to helping to keep housing in South Carolina available and affordable for all.”

In addition to her service with Rotary, Sieck provides service to local charities, fundraising for the Clover Area Assistance Center, food pantry collections for the backpack program, and has served for 10 years as a mentor in a local Career in Transition program .

Other members recently appointed to the SC State Housing Board of Commissioners by the governor and confirmed by the senate are Chairman Christopher N. Union of Charleston, Charles E. Gardner of Greenville; Ernest Magaro Jr. of Columbia; Kenneth E. Ormand Jr. of Columbia; and Robert E. Thomas of Bamberg. Other members are John S. Hill and Robert Mickle, both of Columbia.

Clover chamber plans annual meeting

CLOVER The Greater Clover Chamber of Commerce will host its 51st annual meeting and celebration for the Town of Clover’s 125th anniversary at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at The Lodge, Cherokee Farms.

The chamber will introduce new and current board members and present annual awards for Business of the Year and Citizen/Volunteer of the Year.

Duke launches recycling program

CHARLOTTE Duke Energy Carolinas has launched a new program to give customers a way to recycle outdated refrigerators.

Free financial workshops offered

ROCK HILL The York County Library and Family Trust Federal Credit Union are offering free finances and money management workshops beginning today, Sept. 11, at the library on Black Street in Rock Hill.

The series, “Know Your Dough: Inspiring Financial Freedom,” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month.
