Lake Wylie’s Thursday Night Tournament Trail makes big finish

LAKE WYLIE --

The Thursday Night Tournament Trail Championship was held Sept. 7-8 on Lake Wylie.

“We got it all started with a hot dog supper sponsored by Lake Wylie Bait & Tackle on Thursday evening with the pre-registration,” said Erwin Gaston, who co-organizes the event with Jeremy Cabe.

There were 44 boats qualified for the no entry fee event. Matt Queen and Adam Fillmore came away a champions and $3,000 bringing in a consistent bag both nights for a total two-day weight of 25.71 pounds.

“This has been a tough fishing year, but it has been fun fishing,” Gaston said.

Gaston and Cabe captured second place with a two-day total of 25.55 pounds and $1,200 and a big fish on day two of 4.73 pounds.

Hunter Hicks and David Mitchell hit third-place with 25.23 pounds for $950, while fourth place finishers Ed Parker and George Baucom brought in the first big fish at 4.62 pounds and $900 in winnings.

The top 10 spots paid out.

The Thursday Night Tournament Trail will start back up March 29, a Friday, with the Fishing For A Cure charity tournament.
