Fall retreat Sept. 7-8 in Steele Creek

Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 York Road, will host a fall retreat Friday-Saturday, Sept. 7-8.

Friday evening will be a time of fellowship and praise beginning at 6:30 p.m. for a covered-dish dinner and followed at 7:30 p.m. for music and praise.

At 8:30 a.m. Saturday, experience a time of worship and teaching exploring three disciplines from the book, “So, You Want to be like Christ?”

Bible studies begin Wednesday

Community Women’s and Grades 1-3 Bible studies begin Wednesday, Sept. 5, at River Hills Community Church.

The group meets from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Wednesdays for a morning devotional, small group discussion of home-study questions and a large group review.

Hear bluegrass Thursday

Allison Creek Bluegrass returns to the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, 5780 Allison Creek Road.

The Journey offers American Heritage series

The Journey Church at Lake Wylie invites the community to David Barton’s video series, The American Heritage, running Sundays through Nov. 4. The series is appropriate for adults and children ages 12 and older.

Learning adventure

begins Monday

The Shepherd’s Center “Adventures in Learning” fall class session for ages 50 and older begins Sept. 10 at Oakland Baptist Church, Oakland Avenue. Sessions are each Monday through Oct. 15

A new Bible study will be offered at 9 a.m. with the first class starting at 9:45 a.m. and the second at 10:40. Classes offered are creative writing with Charlotte Hallberg, Bridge with Ray Zieverink, “A Healthy Look at the Inevitable” with various speakers, holiday planning with Peggy Angel, Tai Chi with Casey Blanks, and guided autobiography with Lee Miller Creative Stew, a session of general interest for all, begins at 11:40 a.m.

Ministry for women begins Sept. 11

Living Proof simulcast Sept. 15

Learn about managing diabetes Sept. 15

Grace Community Church, 1190 Gold Hill Road, will host Managing Diabetes: The Next Step with an A1C Champion at 10 a.m. Sept. 15 in the worship center.

Steve Wille will offer a free, one-hour education program sharing his personal experiences with diabetes and taking insulin. Wille is a trained A1C Champions Program member, supported by Sanofi US, which provides patient-led approach to diabetes educations.

Wille will talk about why insulin is not a sign of failure but may help achieve blood sugar control as an overall diabetes treatment plan, the concerns he had about starting insulin and misperceptions about insulin.
