Blue Eagles soaring with support from fans

CLOVER --

A wave of supporters greeted the Clover High School football team when the Blue Eagles entered the field at Memorial Stadium prior to the kickoff Sept. 28.

The driving force behind the show of support was the faculty and staff at Clover High School.

A prepared statement issued by the school said: “What makes Clover special is that we are all a family here, win or lose, and despite the hardships this team has faced, we still love them and are proud of them.”

After the Blue Eagles had suffered a 49-10 defeat to the visiting Rock Hill Bearcats, the CHS cheerleaders joined the team in its postgame huddle for prayer and words of encouragement.

The cheerleaders stood alongside the players facing the Blue Eagle band, while the CHS musicians played the school’s alma mater.

Before departing the field, the cheerleaders turned and faced the players with hand-clapping applause.

The message: There’s something special going on at Clover High School.
