LAKE WYLIE — College of Charleston Concert Choir will perform an Evening of Choral Music at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at River Hills Community Church’s sanctuary.
The choir, under the direction of Dr. Robert Taylor, is the premier touring ensemble in the vocal/choral program at the college is made up of 40 students. In fall 2011, the choir performed at the prestigious National Collegiate Choral Organization National Convention in Colorado and also in the 2008 in Ohio. Other honors include performances at the 2005 American Choral Directors Association National Convention in Los Angeles, 2004 American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Convention in Nashville, state and regional American Guild of Organist conferences, and annual performances in the renowned Piccolo Spoleto Festival. The choir regularly performs with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.
Recent collaborations include Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and the Brahm’s Requiem. In April, they will come together to present two performances of the Verdi Requiem.
