Learn about home buying Nov. 13 in Rock Hill

A free workshop on how to buy a home will begin at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the York County Library on Black Street.

“Home-Buying Made Easy” will be conducted by Lisa Young, vice president of mortgage services at Family Trust Federal Credit Union. She’ll explain how to qualify for a mortgage, the types of loans, the differences between fixed and adjustable rates, and how to apply. Handouts will be provided.

Books on the topics will be available for checkout. Participants are asked to register in advance at familytrust.org/knowyourdough or by calling 803-326-2187.

The workshop is part of “Know Your Dough: Inspiring Financial Freedom,” an eight-month series being conducted free by the library and Family Trust the second Tuesday of each month through April. Participants can attend one or all the workshops.

Other workshops will be: Auto-Buying Basics: Dec. 11; Understanding Home and Auto Insurance: Jan. 8; Investing with Confidence: Feb. 12; Identity Theft: Who’s got Your Number?: March 12; and Legal Planning for Seniors: April 9.

Document shredding day Nov. 11

Family Trust Federal Credit Union and Cintas Document Management will provide free document shredding for the public from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 as part of America Recycles Day at the Museum of York County on Mount Gallant Road.

Shredding will be provided for personal and business documents. Staples, rubber bands, folders, paper clips, etc., do not need to be removed before shredding.

The free event will include hands-on activities and games.

Chamber gala reservations accepted

The Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce annual Holiday Gala will be 6:30 p.m.-midnight Dec. 6 at River Hills Country Club.

PBWA seeks vendors for show

The Professional Business Women’s Association of York County is looking for vendors for The Candy Cane Market to be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 at York Tech Baxter Hood Center.

Vendor openings are available for artists, craftsmen, gift suppliers, quilters, seamstresses, church groups and any one who wants to sell products in a Christmas craft show environment.
