From staff reports

CLOVER --

The Four Freshmen – four parts harmony, a twist of elegance, with a splash of swing – will bring their unique brand of vocal harmony to the Clover School District Auditorium audience at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.

Tickets are $15. Call the auditorium at 803-222-8018 for details.

The sound that began with their first professional engagement on Sept. 20, 1948, with brothers, Don and Ross Barbour, cousin Bob Flanigan and fellow Butler University musician, Hal Kratzsch continues on in the 21st century. There have been some membership changes along the way, but the harmony of the Four Freshmen continue to fascinate audiences worldwide.

Over the years, 23 men have peformed with the foursome. As a member left the group, another man stepped in to preserve the sound.

Each time a personnel change occured, another group number was assigned. The current line-up is Group Number 22.

Today, Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, Vince Johnson and Bob Ferreira make up the group. The Four Freshmen newest release, “Love Songs,” features 10 new arrangements of classic love songs including “Stardust,” “These Foolish Things” and “On The Street Where You Live.”
