LAKE WYLIE Evan Moss, a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 333 in Lake Wylie, has received his Eagle Scout Award.
His Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held Oct. 28 at River Hills Community Church.
His Eagle service project was to design, construct and install wooden benches along the walking trail at Clover Community Park.
The son of Randy and Rhonda Moss, he is a senior at Clover High School.
His brother, Taylor, also is an Eagle Scout with Troop 333 in Lake Wylie.

to Lake Wylie tea
LAKE WYLIE The Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women celebrate the election of petition candidate S.C. state Sen. Katrina Shealy (R-District 23, Lexington County) at their annual membership champagne-tea from 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 at the home of Donna Schaub in Lake Wylie.
The former chair of the Lexington County Republican Party, Shealy led the area’s GOP victory efforts in 2004 and 2006. As state senator, Shealy said will “lead the charge for less government mandates and regulations of small businesses.”
Her initiatives include:
• Tax reform: Simplify the tax system and develop a tax structure that doesn’t pick winners and losers; eliminate all state taxes, replaced by a state sales tax; and reduce industrial property taxes.
• Regulatory reform: Eliminate wasteful and inefficient regulations to create a market-friendly regulatory system.
• Education reform: Provide more competition with school choice; allow for innovation and flexibility by removing government restrictions on public school funding; maximize education funding by distributing funds directly to schools.

ROCK HILL The York County Genealogical & Historical Society announces Dr. Eric Emerson, director of the S.C. Department of Archives and the State Historic Preservation Officer, will talk about the Civil War at the 10 a.m. Dec. 1 meeting at Fellowship Hall of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Ave.
Emerson is a graduate of UNC Charlotte and earned his doctorate degree from the University of Alabama. He is the author of “Sons of Privilege: The Charleston Light Dragoons in the Civil War.” He is a co-editor of “Faith, Valor, and Devotion: The Civil War Letters of William Porcher.”
