All Saints marks beginning of season

The Knights of Columbus, All Saints Council 14475, is sponsoring its annual Light Up For Christ at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at All Saints Catholic Church, 530 S.C. 274, to celebrate the beginning of Advent and the 2012 Christmas season.

In addition to the lighting of the All Saints Catholic Church tree lighting, this year’s guest speaker will be Dwight Longenecker. Longenecker, who is a married and a former Anglican priest, is the author of 15 books and many scholarly papers on the Catholic faith. His presentation will center on why he converted to Catholicism and the significance of the Christmas season.

The event is free and open to everyone.

All Saints seeks Angel Tree guardians

The All Saints Knights of Columbus Respect For Life and Faith Formation ministries of All Saints Catholic Church seek guardians to adopt angels from its Angel Tree.

The angels are tagged as boys and girls, with age and size. Participants are asked to purchase at least one outfit and satisfy one of the child’s Christmas wishes. Angel gifts, of about $20 to $35 in cost, should be brought to the tree coded, bagged, unwrapped and placed in the labeled containers.

This year, for the first time, 10 angel families will be adopted. Guardians will provide additional gifts, such as food and Christmas decorations to satisfy the wishes of the angel families, which include children and adults.

Individual angel tree gifts need to be brought to the church by Dec. 5. For more information, call 803-746-5198 or 803-810-5122.
