Gingerbread contest

Tega Cay’s first Gingerbread House contest, Dec. 1, lower level of the Glennon Community Center. Entries must be delivered between 4:30-5:30 p.m. and will be judged during the city’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The contest is open to the public. Canning class

Holiday Canning 101 Class Adult-Youth Partnership, 4-6 p.m. Dec. 4, 120 N. Congress St., York. Class fee: $20.; registered 4-H members receive a discount. Use a water bath canner to prepare apple preserves and learn to use a jam maker to make holiday jam. Maximum limit for class: 6 partnerships. Tree planting

Anniversary tree planting, 4 p.m. Dec. 7, New Centre Park, Clover. In observance of Arbor Day, the town will be planting a special tree at its new park.
