Story time

Holiday Bedtime Story Time, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13, Lake Wylie Public Library. Bring the whole family to enjoy stories and songs of the season. Children ages 12 and younger are invited to wear their pajamas to the program. Cameras are welcome for photos with Santa. No registration required.

Garden tour

Horticultural Highlight Walks, 1 p.m. Dec. 15, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Led by garden staff, learn about new developments and installations, note favorite plants and share behind-the-scenes details. Each walk is a unique experience. Pancake Breakfast

Pancake Breakfast with Father Christmas, 8:30-11 a.m. Dec. 15, Camp Thunderbird, presented by River Hills Lions Club. Cost: $10 per child, $5 per adult, and includes pancake breakfast, pony rides, face painting, bounce houses and a picture with Santa Claus.

Candlelit tour

Candlelight tour, 3-8 p.m. Dec. 15, Historic Brattonsville. Experience a Southern-style Christmas in the Carolina backcountry. Visitors can meet the new settlers, plantation owners and enslaved African-Americans as they bring to life the holiday seasons of the 18th and 19th centuries. Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for youths ages 4 to 17.

Fun with Santa

Santa’s Workshop, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 15, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Santa’s Workshop allows lucky little ones to spend time with the jolly old elf. Activities will include a sing-along, story time and a ride on the Garden Express tram. Garden elves will be on hand to help children create a special gift for someone on their list, decorate cookies and more. A professional photographer will be available to take pictures for an additional fee. Cost: $20 for garden members, $25 for non-members. Reservations are required. 704-829-1252; DSBG.org

Tea time

Holiday Tea, 1-2:15 p.m. and 2:45-4 p.m. Dec. 16, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Break from the stress of the holiday season with a traditional English tea. In addition to trying and learning about different teas, visitors will be able to pair teas with snacks. Served by Savannah’s Tea Room of Fort Mill. English choir performing

Worth School Choir from West Sussex England performs 3 p.m. Dec. 16, Belmont Abbey Basilica, Belmont. The choir presents a concert of Christmas and English Choral music. The program will include works by Duruflé, Stanford, Victoria, Tallis, Wood and the hauntingly beautiful “In Paradisum” by Gabriel Fauré. Worth Abbey organ scholar Luke Navin will performs works by Bach and Vierne. Admission is free; donations accepted. karenjacob@bac.edu

Holidays at the Garden, through Dec. 31, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Lights on at 5 p.m. nightly. The Four Seasons Lawn showcases a 30-foot-tall Norway spruce. Admission: $12 for adults, $11 for seniors 60 and older, and $6 for children 4-12. DSBG.org

Tree auction

HarborChase Festival of Trees Auction, 4:30-8 p.m. Dec. 20, 1611 Constitution Blvd., Rock Hill. More than 25 decorated live Fraser Fir trees decorated by local businesses will be auctioned to benefit the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. Ballroom dance classes

Ballroom dance classes, 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 8-April 30, Lake Wylie YMCA, 4036 Charlotte Hwy. Dances include Rumba, Cha Cha, Mumbo, Salsa, Waltz, Fox Trot, Merengue, Bolero, Tango and Shag.
