Festival of Trees Auction Dec. 20 in Rock Hill

HarborChase Festival of Trees Auction, 4:30-8 p.m. Dec. 20, 1611 Constitution Blvd., Rock Hill. More than 25 decorated live Fraser Fir trees decorated by local businesses will be auctioned to benefit the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. Holidays at the Garden, through Dec. 31, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Lights on at 5 p.m. nightly. The Four Seasons Lawn showcases a 30-foot-tall Norway spruce. Admission: $12 for adults, $11 for seniors 60 and older, and $6 for children 4-12. DSBG.org

On exhibit

The Tints That Glow exhibit opens, Jan. 4-Feb. 17, Dalton Gallery at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill. A free, public reception will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 7. Using Lord Byron’s poem “She Walks in Beauty” as a backbone, Caroline Rust’s exhibit embodies installations of paintings and objects in a multifaceted examination of the feminine world. Ballroom dance classes

Ballroom dance classes, 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 8-April 30, Lake Wylie YMCA, 4036 Charlotte Hwy. Dances include Rumba, Cha Cha, Mumbo, Salsa, Waltz, Fox Trot, Merengue, Bolero, Tango and Shag. Lead instructor is Jay Hussey, certified instructor from Fred Astaire. You do not have to be a member of the Y to join. Cost is $10 per person per night. 803-831-1888

Hear quartet

Alan Black & The Tryon Street Quartet perform, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12, Community Performance Center, 249 E. Main St., Rock Hill. Alan Black is in his 25th year with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Rounding out the quartet are Kari Giles and Tatiana Karpova on violin, and Ning Zhao on viola. All are musicians with the Charlotte Symphony. Family Night

Storyteller Andy Offutt Irwin appears at Family Night, Jan. 15, Clover School District Auditorium Performing Arts Series.
