Seven Clover teachers have completed all requirements to become National Board Certified, according to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
Clover now has 105 National Board Certified Teachers on staff.
The seven teachers are:
Amy Rossett, fifth-grade language arts and social students teacher at Crowders Creek Elementary School.
Charlene Cruse, eighth-grade science teacher at Oakridge Middle School.
Jeff Rolf, sixth-grade science teacher at Oakridge Middle School.
Kristin Dover, kindergarten teacher at Larne Elementary School.
Ramie Macioce, social studies teacher at Clover High School.
Rhonda Welborn, fifth-grade language arts and social students teacher at Crowders Creek Elementary School. Sara Howard, third-grade math and science teacher at Larne Elementary School.
The National Board process was created so teachers can achieve distinction by demonstrating that they meet rigorous standards.
“I congratulate our newest group of achievers,” said Superintendent Dr. Marc Sosne. “The National Board process is rigorous, requiring a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. Teachers tell me all the time that it strengthens what they do in the classroom. In the end, our students are the biggest beneficiaries.”
Teachers seeking National Board Certification undertake a two-part process that takes from one to three years. The process requires candidates to reflect on their classroom practices, their understanding of subject material and their preparation techniques.
In addition to preparing a portfolio with videotapes of classroom teaching, lesson plans, student work samples and reflective essays, teachers must complete assessment center exercises that show they have mastered the subjects they teach and also know how to teach them.
