Wonderful Wednesday to begin this week at River Hills Community Church

River Hills Community Church will begin its Wonderful Wednesday program Jan. 16 through May 1.

Adult classes begin at 4:30 p.m., church dinner at 5:30 p.m., classes for adults and children of all ages at 6:30 p.m.

Cost for dinner is $6 for adults, $2 for children, $15 for family (two adults, two children), or $21 family (four adults).

Nutrition class

begins Thursday

Good Samaritan UMC, 5220 Crowders Cove Road, offers an eight-week class on weight control through proper nutrition, exercise and behavior management.

The class is offered by Anne Sink, R.D. and L.D., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays starting Jan. 17 at the church. Class limit of 20. Cost is $100 per person, or $150 per couple.

Hot dog sale Saturday

The men’s group of Clover Wesleyan Church, at South Main and Parkview streets, will be selling hot dogs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.

Pancake supper served Saturday

The United Methodist Men of St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1550 St. Paul Church Road, will have a pancake supper from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.

The menu will include pancakes, sausage, bacon and eggs. Donations will be accepted to benefit the UMM.

Temple Kol Ami service Jan. 25

Temple Kol Ami marks Tu B’Shevat “The New Year for Trees” Jan. 25 at Unity Presbyterian Church historic sanctuary, 303 Tom Hall St.

This is when the earliest-blooming trees in Israel emerge from the winter and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle.

The Shabbat evening will begin with a potluck dinner at 6:15 p.m., followed by Kabbalat Shabbat service at 7 p.m. led by Rabbi Yosef Levanon. It will conclude with the Tu B’Shevat Seder.

Soup supper Jan. 26

Bowling Green Presbyterian Church, 250 Ridge Road, will hold its annual vegetable soup and oyster stew supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 26. Homemade desserts also will be served.

In the event of inclement weather, the supper will be rescheduled for Feb. 2.

Gain financial peace starting Jan. 28

Good Samaritan UMC, 5220 Crowders Cove Road, hosts Financial Peace University beginning Jan. 28. Classes run nine weeks from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Scherer hosts moms

Scherer Presbyterian Church, 4800 Charlotte Hwy., hosts REST4Moms from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month.

Mothers begin the morning with coffee, tea and goodies, followed by topics of interest, crafts, conversation and discussion. Children are treated to crafts, snacks and playtime. Annual cost is $10.

Bible studies held Wednesday

Community Women’s and Grades 1-3 Bible studies are held from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Wednesdays at River Hills Community Church to share the books of Amos and Isaiah concerning prophecies of Jesus Christ.

CBS is an international Bible study that is nondenominational and unaffiliated with any church, open to all women of all faiths and knowledge levels. The study includes morning devotional, small group discussion of home-study questions and a large group review.

Lake Wylie Lutheran hosts Cafe

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, S.C. 160 W. and Gold Hill Road.
