Libraries offers security breach registration help

York County residents who need assistance getting registered for the free identity protection program provided by the state may attend drop-in sessions Jan. 28-31 at York County libraries. Extra computers and staff will be available for online registrations.

Because of the South Carolina Department of Revenue cyber security breach, Social Security numbers, credit and debit card numbers and business tax filings were exposed. The state recommends that anyone who has filed a South Carolina tax return since 1998 sign up for identity theft protection offered by the state through Experian.

The following times and dates are scheduled:

• Jan. 28-31, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. at the York County Library in Rock Hill, Fort Mill Public Library and York Public Library.

• Jan. 28, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Jan. 29 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Jan. 30 2-8 p.m.; Jan. 31 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m. at the Clover Public Library.

• Jan. 28, 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m.; Jan. 29, 10 a.m-8:00 p.m.; Jan. 30, 6-8 p.m.; Jan. 31, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Lake Wylie Public Library.

Residents should bring Social Security numbers for any family member they will be registering.

See if bowler can set record

Jack Ness will see how many games he can bowl to set a world record from noon, Jan. 25, to noon, Jan. 26, at Lake Wylie Bowl N’ Bounce, 4034 Charlotte Hwy..

To cheer him on, there will be specials including 99-cent games, shoe rentals, hot dogs, popcorn and fountain drinks 1-10 a.m. Jan. 26. A cornhole tournament will be held Jan. 25.

Conservation District to meet

The next commissioners meeting of the York Soil and Water Conservation District will be at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the USDA Service Center, 1460 E. Alexander Love Hwy., York. Members of the public or agencies interested in conservation issues are welcome to attend. For information, call 803-684-3137.

Heart Gala to be held Feb. 14

To celebrate National Heart Month and the launch of a new initiative in York County, The Heart2Heart Foundation will be holding its inaugural Heart Gala on Valentine’s Day at the Palmetto Room at the Old Town Bistro on Main Street.

The evening will feature a wine tasting by CHL Wines, heart-healthy dinner by The Old Town Bistro, live music by The Tim Hartis Group, dancing, a silent auction and a complimentary Valentine photograph.

‘Taste of Relay’ cookbooks

for sale

Relay For Life has compiled its second cookbook, “A Taste of Relay Two,” containing nearly 515 recipes from the 2012 Relay teams.

The books cost $15 and are available from Western York County Relay for Life. Proceeds will go to the 2013 Relay to be held April 27 in York.
