Clover student ROARs for Lions reading program

CLOVER --

Kinard student Aleyah Carter appreciates River Hills Lions Club’s ROARing Readers.

Aleyah, now a fifth-grader, was with the first group of Roaring Readers when she was in second grade.

Lions Katzy and CJ Nager started the program four years ago with second-graders only. Each student received three Scholastic books during the year and weekly visits from Lions as reading buddies. Since then, the program has expanded to include third-, fourth- and fifth-graders.

“I hope they are here at Kinard when my little sisters come here,” she said, explaining that six months ago she became a big sister to identical twins.

She also hopes the program spreads to middle school.
