Dear Reader,
Each week, the Lake Wylie Pilot brings you the news and information you need to be informed about your community. We take pride in being your best source for local news, both in our print product and online. Although we have greatly expanded our digital efforts, we have not charged for this content.
But as the way we do business has evolved, it is time for our business model to do the same. Beginning Feb. 14, the Lake Wylie Pilot will join its sister publication The Herald and its two other community publications, the Fort Mill Times and (York/Clover) Enquirer-Herald, along with more than 300 newspapers across the country that charge for unlimited access to online content.
Unlimited online access to the Lake Wylie Pilot will be combined into a digital subscription package offered with The Herald and its other community publications beginning Feb. 14.
If you are already a digital subscriber to The Herald, none of this applies to you. Unlimited online access to Lake Wylie Pilot and The Herald’s two other community publications is included in that subscription.
Those who are not digital subscribers will have limited online access to these publications. This will include free unlimited access to each web site’s home page, its section front pages and obituaries, and up to a total of 15 stories across all four web sites.
For digital subscribers, the package includes unlimited online access to the Lake Wylie Pilot and unlimited online access to its sister newspapers, The Herald, Fort Mill Times and (York-Clover) Enquirer-Herald. This subscription is available at 99 cents for the first month on a trial basis and $7.95 per month after that. Those who pay a year in advance can get a discounted rate of $79.95 per year.
The complimentary home delivery of your Lake Wylie Pilot will remain unchanged.
The digital subscription also will include:
• Unlimited access to the e-edition, or electronic replica, of The Herald, Fort Mill Times, Lake Wylie Pilot and the (York/Clover) Enquirer-Herald on your personal computer and devices such as your iPad. With our e-edition, articles, photographs – even ads and comic strips – can be emailed, printed and saved from your desktop, laptop or tablet device. You can access the newspaper seven days a week while away on vacation or business.
• Access to previous e-editions of The Herald as well as the Fort Mill Times, Lake Wylie Pilot and Enquirer-Herald.
• Unlimited access to news on the mobile platform of The Herald.
• People in a household can share one account, including on up to five mobile devices.

In addition, we remind anyone interested in making an online comment that responsibility for statements posted lies with the person submitting the comment, not Lake Wylie Pilot.
If you find a comment offensive, clicking on exclamation icon will flag the comment for review by the administrators, we are counting on the good judgment of all our readers to help us.
