Lake Wylie area church hosting event for men Feb. 2

Lake Wylie Lutheran Church is hosting an event for men on Saturday, Feb. 2.

The church is joining about 1,000 churches across the country in hosting a Stepping Up Super Saturday.

Dennis Rainey, CEO of Family Life Ministries, hosts the four sessions that focus on defining manhood, living courageously, building a life of faith and stepping up to lead. Featured experts Robert Lewis, Tony Dungy, Matt Chandler, Mark Driscoll, Voddie Baucham, Bill Bennett, and others lend expertise in engaging video sessions that include dramatic stories, humorous vignettes, man-on-the-street interviews and expert teaching.

Community Cafe serving Feb. 5

in Lake Wylie

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches beginning Feb. 5 at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays.

The Cafe serves from 11;30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, S.C. 160 W. and Gold Hill Road.

Murder mystery dinner Feb. 9-10

River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamiltons Ferry Road, presents its second annual Mystery Dinner Theater, “New York Dreams,” by Nancy Bond 5:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 9 and 12:30-3:30 p.m. Feb. 10.

Guests of Hotel Gem have come to New York City to fulfill their hopes and dreams, but an unexpected event reeks havoc and a crime unfolds. The play is suitable for ages 10 and older. Proceeds will be used for mission trips for Amplify, the church’s youth group.

Tickets cost $20 each for reserved seating, dinner and the show, and are available during the week and following Sunday services through Feb. 6. Tickets will not be sold the day of the show. Child care is included; reservation required.

Poor man’s supper in Bowling Green Feb. 9

The Women of Ramah Presbyterian Church are sponsoring a Poor Man’s Supper from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9.

The menu includes pinto beans, vegetable soup, cabbage, slaw, corn bread, desserts, and drink.

Cost is $7 for adults and $3, children ages 3 to 12.

Singles groups meeting

New River Community Church is holding two singles groups, both meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesdays.

• FUSION is for anyone out of high school to age 24. The group currently meets at a member home in York. Singles can build friendships through studying God’s Word together, serving in the community, having fun, and discussing challenges of life.

• Singles Gatherings is for adults ages 25 and older. The group meets at the church, 133 Carroll Cove Road. Connection and Bible study are the primary focuses. Child care is provided for children 10 and younger.

Scherer hosts moms

Scherer Presbyterian Church, 4800 Charlotte Hwy., hosts REST4Moms from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month.

Mothers begin the morning with coffee, tea and goodies, followed by topics of interest, crafts, conversation and discussion. Children are treated to crafts, snacks and playtime. Annual cost is $10.
