Clover leader to present Feb. 5 at Lake Wylie Rotary meeting

Clover School District Superintendent Dr. Marc Sosne will be the featured speaker at the Lake Wylie Rotary Club’s noon meeting Feb. 5 at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane.

Sosne will present an informational presentation about the proposed spring 2014 bond referendum.

The Clover school board gave unanimous approval last week to an $85 million construction package for a 2014 bond referendum that includes a new elementary and middle school, building renovations at Clover Middle to create a ninth-grade academy and athletic field improvements.

Voters would be asked to approve borrowing “about $60 million” for the plans, according to Sosne, and the district would make a down payment of about $25 million. Under the plans, the new schools would open in the fall 2017.

Guests are welcome. Lunch, catered by Christopher’s, costs $9. For more information, visit lwrotaryclub.org.
