PES sees

1 win, 1 loss

The Palisades Episcopal School varsity basketball team brought its record to 11-3 after a win Jan. 29 against Socrates Academy, 62-27.

Max Gilbert scored a season high of 20 points.

Unfortunately, the team fell Jan. 31 to Back Creek Christian Academy, with two final games played last week against Carolina International School and Countryside Montessori School.

Kickball

Adult league meeting Feb. 22

The Clover Recreation Department is holding team registrations for Spring Adult Kickball.

Anyone interested in entering a team in the league will need to attend the interest meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Clover Community Center

Baseball

LWAA evaluations Saturday

Registration for Lake Wylie Athletic Association’s spring baseball season is under way for players ages 4-13.

LWAA will hold baseball evaluations for ages 8 and older at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Bethel Elementary baseball fields. LWAA also will be taking baseball registrations at that time. For more information or to register online, visit eteamz.com/lwaa.

Soccer

LWAA registration under way

Registration for Lake Wylie Athletic Association’s spring soccer season is under way for all players ages 3 to 14.

In-person registration will be held 10 a.m.-noon Feb. 16 and 23 at Walmart-Lake Wylie.

Evaluation of players is at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at the fields near River Hills Community Church.

Players returning from the fall 2012 season do not need to attend evaluations.

Golf

Junior programs to begin

Tega Cay Golf Club is offering a junior program designed to expose golf to juniors of all ability levels. The Project Impact program, featuring the PGA Sports Academy curriculum, will help youth learn to play golf and have fun.

The series will be offered by PGA/LPGA professionals in a group environment March 1 with clinic and camp pricing.

The lesson and clinic programs are offered year-round for young children (3 years and older) through competitive-level teens.

Camps will begin June 11. Each session will provide golf and near golf experiences, fitness and nutrition knowledge, and opportunity for on-and-off course athletics. Golf skills will be the basis for learning, along with sportsmanship and open play.

Clinics begin March 2

Junior golf instruction begin March 2 at Fort Mill Golf Club’s Accelerated Golf Training Academy.

Golf clinics are for children from beginners to intermediate skill levels held 3-4:15 p.m. Saturdays.

Two PGA Class A professionals will conduct the sessions covering full swing, short game and playing etiquette.
