Reserve seat for River Hills Women’s Club fashion show

The monthly meeting of the River Hills Women’s Club will be held March 20 at the River Hill Country Club.

This month’s program will be a Spring Fashion Show, featuring fashions from Stein Mart Ballantyne, presented by Tina Westphal.

Canning coach needed

Clemson University Extension Service is looking for a “Canning Coach.”

A Canning Coach teaches and mentors friends and family to preserve food in a safe way. The coach is trained by experts in food microbiology and food preservation on how to teach others. Resources and materials will be provided.

Pressure canning experience necessary. The deadline to apply is March 13.

Diabetes focus

Learn about diabetes from the American Diabetes Association guest speaker at the noon March 19 Lake Wylie Rotary Club meeting at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane.

Optimists offer oratorical contest

The Clover Optimist Club is seeking applicants for its oratorical scholarship program, which will be 10 a.m. April 13 at the Clover club. The topic is “Why my voice is important.”

The speech contest is open to any student younger than age 19 by Dec. 31 and has not graduated from high school or the equivalent may enter. Interested students may pick up an application from the Clover High School counselors or from the Clover Optimist Club.

Entrants must submit a speech on this pre-assigned topic. There are three levels to the contest. Club winners, including two boys and two girls, will advance to the second level, the zone contest at 10 a.m. April 27 at the club.

One boy and one girl will advance to the third level, the district contest at 10 a.m. May 11 in Columbia. Two winners, one boy and one girl, will each receive a $2,500 scholarship.

Sweet Repeat seeks volunteers, members

Sweet Repeat Charitable Foundation seeks volunteers for two to six hours a month to work at the Sweet Repeat Shop at Lake Wylie Plaza behind Fred’s.

All proceeds benefit charities in the local area.
