Digital SLR IV - Flash Photography, 9:30a.m.-noon March 16, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Instructed by Dave Kelly, DEK Photography, learn to use both the on-camera popup flash and the optional hot-shoe flash. Topics to be covered are flash as the main light source, balanced flash, fill flash and using flash to freeze motion. Bird walk

Bee time

Honeybee Culture with the Bee Ladies, 11 a.m. March 16, Lake Wylie Public Library. Sally Adams and Anita Lehew, “The Bee Ladies” from Mama Beehive Honey Farm, will present an interactive, educational program that covers everything from the jobs of the worker bees to early lessons in beekeeping. Each participant will receive a honey straw and a beeswax tea light. Registration required. 803-831-7774

Learn about Cattleyas

The Classic Cattleyas, 2-4 p.m. March 16, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Internationally acclaimed orchid expert Arthur E. Chadwick comes to the garden to share his knowledge of orchids. Co-author of “The Classic Cattleyas,” Chadwick’s lecture will focus on cattleyas, their history, growing tips and will answer questions too. In addition, he will sign autographs and bring orchids selected from his collection that encompasses 13 greenhouses. Cost: $15 for members, $18 for non-members. DSBG.org

Clover time

Clover time capsule dedication, 2 p.m. March 17, New Centre Park. Attendees will bury the time capsule as a finale to the celebration. Attendees are encouraged to wear green for St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Pat’s fest

The St. Patrick’s Day on Main Festival, 4:30-9:30 p.m. March 17, downtown Rock Hill. The festival will kick off with a bagpiper and will feature live Irish/Celtic music by the Federal Clan Kings and the Thistledown Tinkers, Irish dancers from Walsh Kelley School of Irish Dancing & Rince na h’ Eireann Dance School of Traditional Irish Dance, arts and crafts vendors, amusement area, food and more. Peter Rabbit

Peter Rabbit Garden Adventure, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 23-24, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. The loveable and mischievous rabbit from the Beatrix Potter story will visit for a special Easter adventure. In addition to characters from the story, the garden will have live bunnies available for professional photo sessions. Egg Classic

The 31st annual Great Easter Egg Classic, 3:15-5:15 p.m. March 28, Cherry Park, Rock Hill. There will be 50,000 Easter eggs spread over the softball fields and will contain hundreds of prizes, ranging from Easter Baskets to candy to Coca-Cola six packs. For children ages 2 to 11.
