Money available to help low-income families in York County

Carolina Community Actions has money available to assist low-income families with heating and water bills, mortgage and rent.

CCA also administers a family assessment program to assist individuals with obtaining employment, licenses for certified nursing assistants, supplies, General Education Degree (GED) study and child care.

CCA’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program and General Emergency Assistance Program assists eligible households with benefits up to $1,000.

Qualification is based on total gross household income during the past 30 days.

Applications are taken for emergency heating and water bills, rent and mortgage assistance from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at 546 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill.

In addition, applications will be taken for non-emergency heating assistance at the following locations:

• Carolina Community Actions, 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays (seniors and disabled), Apple West Center, 546 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill.

Wesley United Methodist, 8:30 a.m. to noon, first and third Tuesdays, 110 W. Jefferson St., York.

PATH, 9 a.m. to noon, second and fourth Wednesdays. 204 Raille St.. York.

Clover Area Assistance Center, 1 to 4 p.m. second and fourth Wednesdays, 1130 S.C. 55 East.

Fort Mill Care Center, 9 a.m. to noon, first and third Wednesdays, 513 Banks St.

Qualified households may receive assistance up to $500.
