LAKE WYLIE --
Mixed among Hollywood stars like Sofia Vergara and Anne Hathaway and NBA Player Lebron James is Lake Wylie resident Martie Anderson gracing the cover of the March 10 Parade magazine.
“I’m on the cover with Brad Pitt!” the 51-year-old said of the annual issues that explores “What People Earn.”
Anderson, who appears inside on page 6, submitted her information about making $12,000 as a pet sitter after seeing an ad next to the magazine’s Numbrix game she plays online.
It was her husband, Chris, who saw the issue first.
“He pointed to my face,” she said, as he handed her the week’s issue from The Herald. “It’s tickling me to death.”
And her husband likes to say “My wife’s a cover girl,” she said.
She saw it as an opportunity to advertise her seven-year-old business, Lake Wylie Concierge Pet Sitting, even though it’s a national publication.
“I’ve been getting calls from family in other places who have seen it,” she said.
Anderson gave up her career as an administrative assistant to begin her pet sitting career watching a mix of house pets including cats, dogs, birds, turtle, fish, chinchillas, just about any house pet except “I won’t do snakes.”
Her goal is to grow the business so she can act as manager, and send employees out to the homes.
“That’s my goal,” she said.
