Clover High’s Choraliers crowned state champs again

March 25, 2013

— The Clover High School Choraliers have once again been crowned state champions at the South Carolina State Choral Festival held Saturday at St. Andrews Baptist Church in Columbia.

Directed by Jay Forrest and vocal coach Meredith Cornwell, the 116-member choir claims a decade of dominance by winning the title 9 out of the last 11 years, including three consecutive championships. The group also received a “superior” rating in sight reading.

Performing to a standing-room only audience, the Choraliers were praised by standing ovations from, not only the audience, but also from fellow competing high school choral members.

Clover High’s Mixed Ensemble earned a “superior” score in performance and in sight reading.

The Choraliers are preparing for their spring concert, Miss Saigon, May 2, 4-5.

Their candlelight concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 16-17 at First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia. Tickets cost $10.
