Oakridge Middle School sports results

Softball

The Oakridge team beat Gaston Christian on April 9, 10-0 in six innings. Kayla Ogle pitched the Lady Golden Eagles to victory, throwing a complete game shutout, striking out eight hitters in the process, while only giving up one hit. Pacing Oakridge on offense were Sydney Beatham, 2 for 4, 2 runs, and the game clinching RBI; Brooklyn Thomas, 3 for 4, doubled, 2 runs; and Kayla Ogle, 1 for 4, 2 RBIs. The Lady Eagles are now 6-0 in the conference (12-0 overall) and sit atop the Eastern Division in first place.

Track

The Oakridge Middle School girls track team lost a hard fought meet April 10 against York. Scoring points for the Lady Golden Eagles” were:

• First: Jesse Defalco, 800m; Chloe Crank, 200m; Joelle Keffer, discus.

• Second: Jesse Defalco, 1600m; Chloe Crank, 100m; Daniela Ariza, 400m; Joelle Keffer, shotput.

• Third: Grace Miller, 1600m; Jennifer Ramsey, 800m; Grace Huston, 200m; Rhiannon Plummer and Shelby Sturdevant, long jump; Cassie Williams, high jump.

The OMS boys track team also lost, 50-46, at York on April 10. Leading the charge for the Golden Eagles were:

• First: Wyatt Emory, high jump, and new school record of 5 feet, 2 inches; Ben Clark, 1600m; AJ Fulmore, 400m and 800m; Austin Malcolm, discus; 4x400 Relay.

• Second: Cameron Marvin, 1600m; Blake Watson, 400m; William Emory , discus and long jump.

• Third: Julian Williams, 100m and 200m; Ben Clark, 800m; William Emory, high jump.

Soccer

• On April 9, the Oakridge boys soccer team began the second half just as they left off, with a win of 3-0 over host Fort Mill. Matt Ringler scored on a cross from Ben Vogt around 20 minutes in. The second half continued with a goal by Brandon Laforge assisted by Ashanti Long. The final goal was scored by Parker Largen created by a great run by a Buddy Curtin. Todd Knight played the whole game in the box and earned his first full shutout playing outstanding defense.

• On April 9, the OMS Lady Golden Eagles lost to Fort Mill, 2-0. Despite outshooting the Lady Yellow Jackets 12-4, OMS was not able to capitalize. Defensively, Haley Stewart and Elizabeth East contributed with hustle and effort . Sara Barr and Janelle Taliaferro tried to keep the offense in the game with constant pressure on Fort Mill’s defense.

Baseball

On April 9, the OMS team lost a hard fought game to York, 10-7. Graham Whitsides and AJ Nicholas were on the hill for the Golden Eagles. Offensively, the team earned 13 walks and four hits.
