ROCK HILL The Museum of York County will host its annual Earth Day Birthday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27.
Pony rides, earth bracelets, games, and the Scrap Exchange are planned. More than 30 educational exhibits, each with a hands-on environmental message, are included. The event will feature an eco-marketplace where artisans offer items made from recycled materials, and master gardeners plan a plant sale. Document shredding will be provided by Family Trust.
The Settlemyre Planetarium will be celebrating its its newly renovated dome and technological upgrade. Short features showing off the new planetarium will be every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dive team kicks off donation drive
The York County Emergency Response Team is kicking off its annual door-to-door fundraiser.
Donors will receive a coupon for a free portrait.
All team representatives will have identification.
The team is an all volunteer nonprofit organization and is the primary responder for all water-related search, rescue and recovery, including underwater dive operations and swift water rescue in York County.

LAKE WYLIE Donations needed for the Lake Wylie Community Fourth of July Fireworks to be held at dusk July 4, launching from YMCA Camp Thunderbird.
The fireworks display is funded solely through community donations.

CAAC Gala set for April 25
CLOVER Clover Area Assistance Center announces the annual fundraising gala with this year’s theme, “An Evening in the Orient,” will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. April 25 at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont.

CAAC seeks Food Pantry volunteers
CLOVER Clover Area Assistance Center, 1130 Hwy. 55 E., seeks volunteers to help customers shop directly from the Food Pantry shelves.
Volunteers need to commit three and half hours on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Women Build clinics set
ROCK HILL As the national partner of Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, Lowe’s in Rock Hill is offering free training clinics for women interested in volunteering with the Women Build.
The following training clinics are scheduled 8-9 a.m.:
• May 5 – How to finish interior with paint and trim
• June 2 – How to frame walls and roof (conducted offsite at Habitat for Humanity ReStore)

Arts Council accepting exhibit submissions
ROCK HILL The Arts Council of York County is looking for artists interested in presenting their work in the Dalton Gallery. The gallery is a 1,800-square-foot space, illuminated by track lighting.
Artists wishing to be considered for 2014 may submit an entry including artist’s resume, written proposal for the exhibition or artist statement, inventory lists with titles, sizes and mediums, jpg images on CD or DVD, plus a $20 application fee. Artists can submit individually or as a group.

ROCK HILL The Underexposed Film Festival YC will be held Nov. 15-16 at Community Performance Center.
Independent filmmakers may submit short films in the following categories: narrative, documentary, animation or experimental, with a runtime of 45 minutes or less to participate in this juried competition.
