Clover High names volleyball coach, new cheer leader

— Clover School District announced the new high school volleyball coach is Tamara Jacobus.

Jacobus, who has been named region coach of the year in 14 of her 17 years with the Warriors, brings a wealth of experience to the Blue Eagles program including a stellar post-season record. In just her fourth year at the helm, she led Indian Land to the school’s first athletic state championship in 1996. Her teams also won state titles in 1997, 2001 and 2004. She was named the 2004-2005 South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association coach of the year.

In her 17 seasons with Indian Land, she produced five Class A players of the year, 14 region players of the year, and 33 all-region selections. She boasts overall winning percentage of 73 percent with a record of 302-114. In addition to volleyball, she also coached basketball where she compiled at 277-138 record in 18 seasons.

At Clover, Jacobus, a National Board Certified Teacher, will teach math. She was the Lancaster County School District High School Teacher of the Year in 2011.

Hannah Goolsby, special education teacher for Larne Elementary School, has been promoted to lead the high school’s cheerleading and spirit teams. She served as an assistant coach the past year.

Before arriving in Clover, Goolsby worked in Gwinnett County Public Schools in the greater Atlanta area for three years where she worked with children with Autism. She has also worked with the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta. While with GCPS, she coached cheerleading for one year at Brookwood High School.
