‘American Idol’ contestant to perform May 7 at Lake Wylie Rotary

Clover High School’s Ja’Bria Barber, 17, who advanced to the Hollywood phase of “American Idol,” will speak and perform at the noon May 7 Lake Wylie Rotary Club meeting at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane.

Sign up for Lions golf tourney

The River Hills Lions Club’s annual Memorial Celebration Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. June 17 at River Hills Country Club.

Tournament entry fee is $125 per player if paid by Saturday, April 20. Price includes greens fee, cart, practice range, lunch and prizes.

Registration and lunch start at 11 a.m.

There will be an awards dinner and “skill” contests at 5:30 p.m.

Contests include putting and hole-in-one, as well as two skills contests of distance and accuracy for three shots at $10.

Clover Jaycees plan golf tourney

The Clover Jaycees will host a golf tournament May 18 at Green Meadows Golf Club in Mount Holly, N.C., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Cost is $60, which includes two mulligans and a red tee per person. Lunch and beverage cart will be provided.

Format is a two-man captain choice, but golfers will play a four-man total score. Proceeds benefit local community projects, Jaycee Camp Hope and the building fund.

Sweet Repeat seeks volunteers, members

Sweet Repeat Charitable Foundation seeks volunteers for two to six hours a month to work at the Sweet Repeat Shop at Lake Wylie Plaza behind Fred’s.
