Knights of Columbus open house May 14 in Lake Wylie

The All Saints Council of the Knights of Columbus will hold their annual open house at 7 p.m. May 14.

All men who are practicing Catholics and older than 18 are invited.

The event will run about one hour, and refreshments will be served. For more information, call 803-493-1948.

Tent revival starts in Clover

A tent revival with evangelist Scott Callahan of Fort Mill will be held in Clover, at U.S. 321 and Hawthorne Lane, through May 18.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly and is open to the community. It will include live music and singing and prayers for the sick.

Pregnancy center dedication Thursday

Palmetto Pregnancy Center’s Fort Mill ultrasound machine has been installed and is offering women free ultrasound services with work supported by All Saints Knights of Columbus Council No. 14475. A dedication and memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at the center, 575 Springcrest Drive, suite B.

Gordon-Conwell to confer 65 degrees

The Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Board of Trustees will confer 55 master’s degrees and 10 Doctor of Ministry degrees during commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beattles Ford Road. Total degrees to be conferred at Gordon-Conwell’s four campuses in Charlotte; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Hamilton and Boston, Mass., include 345 master’s degrees and 55 doctoral degrees.

The commencement speaker will be Steve Green, president of Hobby Lobby, the largest privately-owned arts and crafts retailer in the world. Green recently authored “Faith in America: The Powerful Impact of One Company Speaking Out Boldly.” He oversees The Green Collection, a collection of more than 40,000 rare biblical texts and artifacts.

Green will receive an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in recognition of his accomplished leadership and commitment to advancing the gospel message.

A baccalaureate service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, also at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The speaker will be Jonathan Scott, who serves as pastor of worship and arts, teaching pastor, and life group director at Forest Hill Church in Charlotte. For more than 25 years, Scott has pastored churches in Florida and North Carolina, providing oversight for ministry staff, small groups, discipleship programs, baptisms and weekend worship services.

Healing ministry info session

A healing ministry information session under the auspices of the International Order of St. Luke the Physician will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane. New Beginnings seeks volunteers

Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church, which delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.

Volunteers also are being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps provide housing for the homeless. Volunteers will help with daily operations, including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.

Christ the King’s summer camp signup open

Registration is open for two summer camps at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon St.

Camp Sonshine will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 17-20 for 3-year-olds through rising kindergarteners, who will make crafts, go on nature hikes, hear Bible stories, sing songs and more. The cost is $75.

Camp Agape will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 5-9 for rising first- through fifth-graders, who will play games, sing songs, make crafts, nature activities, Bible studies and more. The cost is $100.

Community Cafe serving lunch

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Church hosts free exercise classes

Free exercises classes are offered Mondays at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon St. Class is taught by Kathryn Webner, registered nurse, health fitness specialist and a personal trainer.

The Beginner Strength & Conditioning Class is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. targeting balance, endurance and improved muscular strength. This class is appropriate for seniors, the non- exerciser, or someone recovering from an injury. The Group Circuit Class from 6 to 7 p.m. is designed to improve total body strength and cardiovascular fitness. This class if offered for all fitness levels, 12 years and older. Bring a mat, towel and water.

• FUSION is for anyone out of high school to age 24. The group meets at a member’s home in York. Singles can build friendships through studying God’s Word together, serving in the community, having fun, and discussing challenges of life.

• Singles Gatherings is for adults ages 25 and older. The group meets at the church, 133 Carroll Cove Road. Connection and Bible study are the primary focuses. Child care is provided for children 10 and younger.
