Clover High 2013 graduates set scholarship record

— The largest graduating class in the 91-year history of Clover High School received diplomas last week at Winthrop Coliseum, when over 400 students crossed the stage.

The 2013 graduates have collectively been offered more than $10 million in scholarships – which nearly doubles that of the previous record of $6 million set by the class of 2011.

Twenty-eight students were awarded the South Carolina Palmetto Fellows award, valued at $817,600, while 113 were awarded the South Carolina LIFE scholarship to attend a four-year college with a value of $2.26 million.

In addition, 206 students were awarded the South Carolina LIFE scholarship to attend a two-year college with a value of $2.06 million, and 162 organizations gave students $4.9 million in scholarships.

Ten student-athletes were awarded scholarships to continue playing their respective sport in college.
