STEELE CREEK — On Wednesday, June 26, Tuff Girls Bootcamps owner Julie Sawyer will host Burpees for a Cause, a fundraiser fitness challenge at The Palisades in Steele Creek. The event supports Ace & TJs Grin Kids organization, and will help send local terminally ill and chronically disabled children and their families to Disney World.
Similar to a walk-a-thon, participants will offer pledges for their efforts. Instead of walking for hours, they will have 90 seconds to complete as many burpees as possible. Burpees are a popular exercise method traditionally used to shed fat, build muscle and quickly bring about exhaustion.
Classes will be held at 5:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 5:45 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. All you need to participate in class is a water bottle and comfortable clothes. Contributions will be collected in each class, which is open to the public.
This local charity fitness challenge is part of an international event where dozens of personal training and youth training franchise locations will stage identical events in support of their own chosen causes.
The event itself is part of an eight-week international charity fundraiser campaign called Revolution for a Cause. FR International has set a goal of $75,000 for the two-month campaign.
