Everyone invited to Clothing Closet Saturday
STEELE CREEK Christ the King Church will host a Community Clothing Closet from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 13, at the church, 13501 S. Tryon St.
The closet is open to everyone and is free. There will be clothing available for all ages. There also will be medical professionals providing free blood pressure checks. The food pantry will be open, and the women’s ministry will be giving out school supplies to children.

Knights, bank join for bake sale
LAKE WYLIE The Lake Wylie branch of BB&T is hosting a bake sale July 11-12 with the Knights of Columbus, All Saints Council No. 14475, to raise money for Operation HOPE, a statewide campaign to help people with intellectual disabilities.
The bank is located at 585 Nautical Drive, and the sale will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday.
Block party July 20 in Clover
CLOVER The Bridge Community Church will host a block party from 2 to 5 p.m. July 20 at Clover Community Park, 256 Community Park Drive.
There will be a free concert by The Bridge Praise Band, face painting, free hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones.

Women invited to fall Bible study
LAKE WYLIE A 30-week women’s community Bible study of the Book of John will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Wednesdays, starting Sept. 11, at River Hills Community Church.
This study of the life and ministry of Jesus, the Word Incarnate, draws applications from His relationships with individuals and their distinct needs. The questions are straightforward, encouraging students to investigate the gospel first-hand, to understand Christ’s claims, and to respond to the Truth.

Join tours to Turkey, Israel
LAKE WYLIE Dr. Charles Ford and wife Barbara invite the community to them on tours to historical lands of the Eastern Mediterranean.
First is a tour of central Turkey leaving Charlotte on Oct. 14. The second is a tour of central and northern Israel with an option to Jordan leaving Charlotte on March 10.
The Fords have spent more than three years living, traveling and working in the Middle East . They have hosted many tours, including a recent trip to Israel and Jordan.

Dine Mondays for HOPE
LAKE WYLIE The Waffle House-Lake Wylie and Knights of Columbus of All Saints Council No. 14475 are raising money for Operation HOPE (Helping Other People Everyday), a statewide campaign to help people with intellectual disabilities.
Every first Monday of the month, Waffle House will donate 20 percent of its proceeds to Operation HOPE.

Simulcast set in Steele Creek
STEELE CREEK LifeWay Christian Resources will host Beth Moore’s “Living Proof Live” simulcast Sept. 14 at Christ the King Church.
Living Proof Live, sponsored by Nashville-based publishing company LifeWay Christian Resources, will feature Moore’s storytelling and passionate Bible teaching.
Moore has authored dozens of published Bible studies, books and devotionals for women for nearly two decades. Her latest LifeWay-published release, “James: Mercy Triumphs,” is a Bible study that equips women to put their faith in action. Moore’s organization, Living Proof Ministries, is based out of Houston.
Dove-award winning musical artist Travis Cottrell, who also serves as worship pastor of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn., is slated to lead worship for the event.

STEELE CREEK Free exercises classes are offered Mondays at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon St. Class is taught by Kathryn Webner, registered nurse, health fitness specialist and a personal trainer.
The Beginner Strength & Conditioning Class is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. targeting balance, endurance and improved muscular strength. This class is appropriate for seniors, the non-exerciser, or someone recovering from an injury. The Group Circuit Class from 6 to 7 p.m. is designed to improve total body strength and cardiovascular fitness. This class is offered for all fitness levels, 12 years and older. New Beginnings seeks volunteers
CLOVER Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church, which delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.
Volunteers also are being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps provide housing for the homeless. Volunteers will help with daily operations, including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.
