Allstate honors Wylie agency

Allstate agency owner David Vickers of The David Vickers Agency has been designated an Allstate Premier Agency for 2013.

The Allstate Premier Agency designation is bestowed upon less than 38 percent of Allstate’s nearly 10,000 agency owners across the country. This designation is being presented to Vickers for his outstanding performance and commitment to putting customers at the center of his agency’s work.

The Premier Agency designation is awarded to Allstate agency owners who have demonstrated excellence in delivering an accessible, knowledgeable and personal customer experience, and in achieving outstanding business results.

The David Vickers Agency is located at 4937 Charlotte Hwy., suite 104.

York farmers market celebrates Aug. 10

The Market at Inman Farms will be celebrating National Farmers Market Week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10 with demonstrations, Taste of the Market (grilling demo), children’s activities, tractors, lemonade stand, complimentary tomato sandwiches and music.

Family Trust Youth Day Aug. 10

Family Trust Federal Credit Union will hold its annual Youth Day from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 10 at its branches at 1219 S.C. 55 E. in Clover and on Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill.

The events will have a beach theme and will feature cash prizes, face painting, snacks and crafts. The first 50 children will receive goodie bags. Both events are free and open to the public.

Family Trust’s 13 and under to open an Explorer’s Club savings account at any Family Trust branch, deposit $25 or more into their current savings account, or bring in a friend to open a savings account.

Participants will receive a prize and will be entered in a drawing for a family beach trip.

Family Trust developed Youth Week in 2000 to uphold its commitment to financial education for youth and to encourage saving habits at an early age. The Explorer’s Club is open to children up to age 12 and offers rewards for birthdays and good grades, newsletters and saving options.

Protect our troops, send sunscreen

Local Mary Kay consultant Heather Catts is asking the community to help protect our troops through Operation Sunscreen.

Mary Kay has teamed up with Soldiers’ Angels, a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to the troops, to supply soldiers with suncare products.

A suncare package – which includes broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen, lip protector broad spectrum SPF 15 and package of cleansing cloths – costs $40. Donations are tax deductible. To make a donation, call 704-231-5760 or email heathercatts@marykay.com.

Farmers market open

Fort Mill’s new farmers market is open at 121 Monroe St.

The market is managed by the Fort Mill Economic Council in cooperation with the town of Fort Mill and runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 26.

The market is for vendors selling agricultural products, produce and plants produced or grown themselves in South Carolina or North Carolina. Brokers will not be allowed. Each 10-by-10 space costs $10, and vendors provide their own tent.
