Arts council announces Main Stage Series

— The Arts Council of York County will celebrate some of the Community Performance Center’s most popular acts with a new series that begins Sept. 27.

• The Second City, Happily Ever Laughter, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27. Drawing on classic material from The Second City archives as well as scenes ripped from the morning headlines, The Second City’s Happily Ever Laughter is a chance to see comedy stars in the making during an evening of smart, cutting edge comedy. Nonmember, $45; member, $40; at the door, $50

• Jessy Carolina & the Hot Mess, 7:30 p.m. Jan 18. Jessy Carolina & the Hot Mess is a New York City-based ensemble specializing in early American roots and jazz music from the late 1800s to the 1930s. onmembers, $25; member, $20; at the door, $30.

• Big Ray & the Kool Kats, 7:30 p.m. March 14. A crisp four-piece rhythm section, four sizzling horn players and a variety of vocalists combine to form Big Ray & the Kool Kats. Nonmember, $35; member, $30; at the door, $40

• Alan Black & the Tryon Street Quartet, 7:30 p.m. April 26. Combine the four principal players from the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra for an evening of pure musical virtuosity. Nonmember, $25; member, $20; at the door, $30

The Community Performance Center is at 249 E. Main St., Rock Hill. Doors open at 7 p.m.
