LAKE WYLIE — A team of 15 teenagers and six adults from River Hills Community Church traveled July 21 to Honduras for a mission trip.
The team served at Good Shepherd’s Children’s Home, completing several projects while establishing bonds with the more than 100 children who live in the home.
During the team’s week there, they built a bike path, repaired a playground set, sorted clothes and food, and painted.
The RHCC team also built a walking path with sand and gravel for the workers and caregivers to travel to and from the home.
After work in the mornings, they spent the afternoons with the children providing swim lessons, bike riding lessons, playing soccer and other games.
With money raised for the trip, the RHCC team was able to donate 80 pairs of socks, soccer cleats, shin guards and eight bicycles.
The RHCC youth were Samantha Burkette, Jarod Dollar, Drew Fowler, Tori Herberger, Emmery Johnson, Will Morris, Caroline Nichols, Katie Noll, Haley Park, Rachel Park, Kalen Parsons, Madison Parsons, Ella Segars, Vanessa Vanslambrook and Justin White.
