Women invited to fall Bible study

A Community Bible Study Women’s Day Class will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Wednesdays, starting Sept. 11, at River Hills Community Church.

CBS is a unaffiliated, international study, where all denominations and ages are welcome. This year’s 30-week study of the Gospel of John is a study of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Preschool enjoys a three-year journey through the Bible while first- through 12th-graders study John in core groups.

Run for God starts Sept. 17

Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane, will begin its fall Run for God series Sept. 17.

Community members are welcome to join this 12-week couch to 5K program, which will meet weekly at 6 p.m. at the church. Experts will talk about preventing injury, proper nutrition and proper footwear.

The nationwide program started with Mitchell Hollis of Dalton, Ga., donning a T-shirt declaring “Run for God” with a stick figure drawing. The program now is being run in more than 400 churches in more than 40 states across the country. The program trains participants by walking for a minute and running 30 seconds for 30 minutes three times a week, until eventually being able to run 30 minutes to complete a 5K.

Join tours to Turkey, Israel

Dr. Charles Ford and wife Barbara invite the community to join them on tours to historical lands of the Eastern Mediterranean.

First is a tour of central Turkey, leaving Charlotte on Oct. 14.

The second is a tour of central and northern Israel with an option to tour Jordan, leaving Charlotte on March 10.

The Fords have spent more than three years living, traveling and working in the Middle East.

The Waffle House-Lake Wylie and Knights of Columbus of All Saints Council No. 14475 are raising money for Operation HOPE (Helping Other People Everyday), a statewide campaign to help people with intellectual disabilities.

Hear Beth Moore Sept. 14

LifeWay Christian Resources will host Beth Moore’s “Living Proof Live” simulcast Sept. 14 at Christ the King Church.

Living Proof Live, sponsored by Nashville-based publishing company LifeWay Christian Resources, will feature Moore’s storytelling and passionate Bible teaching.

Moore has authored dozens of published Bible studies, books and devotionals for women for nearly two decades.

Her latest LifeWay-published release, “James: Mercy Triumphs,” is a Bible study that equips women to put their faith in action. Moore’s organization, Living Proof Ministries, is based out of Houston.

Dove-award winning musical artist Travis Cottrell, who also serves as worship pastor of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn., is slated to lead worship for the event.

Living Proof Live runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tickets cost $17 online or $20 at the door, and include live worship with Marcy and Bobby Little and lunch (guaranteed by early registration).

Church hosts free exercise classes

Free exercises classes are offered Mondays at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon St. Class is taught by Kathryn Webner, registered nurse, health fitness specialist and a personal trainer.

The Beginner Strength & Conditioning Class is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. targeting balance, endurance and improved muscular strength.

This class is appropriate for seniors, the non-exerciser, or someone recovering from an injury.

The Group Circuit Class from 6 to 7 p.m. is designed to improve total body strength and cardiovascular fitness.

This class is offered for all fitness levels, 12 years and older. Bring a mat, towel and water.
