— The Kangaroo Express at 4568 Charlotte Hwy., across from Plantation Square, was robbed by an unidentified suspect early Saturday morning, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The store clerk told the officer a man walked from the road across the parking lot into the store, where he got a case of beer and walked to the counter. He put the beer on the counter and told the clerk he wanted the beer and all the money in the cash register.

When the clerk told the man he couldn’t do that, the man pulled out a handgun and rested his arm on the case of beer on the counter. The clerk opened the register and gave the man just over $100 in cash. The man then calmly exited the store and walked away.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, in his mid 30s to 40s with tattoos on his face.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said the suspect hadn’t been identified but surveillance video is available online at

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 803-638-3059 or Crime Stoppers of York County at 877-409-4321.
