Several York County and other area residents remembered the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, by waving U.S. flags on several I-77 overpasses Wednesday morning.
At the Sutton Road overpass, several people waved flags in memory of the late Leonard Farrington. After the terrorists struck on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, Farrington - a World War II Navy veteran - grabbed his flag and waved it on the Sutton Road overpass at I-77. "No terrorist beats America," he said that morning.
He waved the flag on the same bridge every Sept. 11 until he died last year. The flag Farrington used in 2001 was waved from the bridge Wednesday.
